Kaiser gets a lot of knots and tangles in his hair just like most dogs that have hair instead of fur. When he gets a real bad knot that we can’t brush out we have to cut it from his hair with scissors. If you are going to let your Schnauzer’s hair grow then you should probably brush it multiple times a week with a wire brush. Wire brush is essential, but frequency is the key here because you usually can’t brush out the knots after they’re established. So, here’s a picture of Kaiser’s grooming session, seems like he doesn’t mind too much.

Oh, he’s behaving much better than I do.
My mom person uses a nice conditioner from Ecostore USA that really helps with my tangles.
Next week I’ll be posting my review of their products & even having a giveaway, so you should stop by!

Good photo. I’ve read that cornstarch will help in getting knots and tangles out. We plan to give it a try.

I like to use a wire comb for Bella’s tangles. It’s easier to pick out the knots with a comb. What a good boy Kaiser is! If Bella doesn’t have many tangles, she almost falls asleep for brushing

Hi Kaiser – you look sooo cute in that photo! We don’t like being brushed but we’re getting used to it a bit more now. We’ve nominated you for a blog award so please drop by to check it out!

Thanks guys. Getting brushed ain’t so bad after all. Just gotta learn to relax. Thanks so much for the nomination, do you have a link to it? Your blog is outstanding, JD and Max look just like Kaiser when he was a young puppy.

Hi Kaiser – JD and Max’s owner here! Thanks for your kind comments about my boys blog and we’re glad that Kaiser still has his tail. It’s a shame he feels a bit alone because of it, but he should remember that it makes him EXTRA handsome and distinguised.
Look at http://schnauzerandschnauzer.b.....aster.html for the award info – bit of a long link I know – scroll down to the ‘honest scrap’ picure icon and take it from there. I’m kinda new to this blogging malarky so it’s all a learning curve for me really, but it was fun to be nominated for an award! I especially liked this award because it’s a good way to get to know some more things about other dogs (or blogs!) that you’re intersted in which makes it fun.
Basically, you need to save the ‘honest scrap’ icon and post it on your blog, with a message saying that you got this award from JD and Max and include a link to their blog. Kaiser then lists 10 honest facts about himself and nominates some other blogs for this award. It’s a well thought out award I think, as it’s a good way of getting new readers on your blog – I see the cute Vodka has now visited your blog for example and JD and Max have received some extra traffic since their nomination which they’re thrilled about.
Phew – this has been a long message! Apologies if I’ve mentioned things that you already know. Me and the boys love your blog, the photos are always superb, Kaiser really is such a cutie! Best regards – Clare.
Oh – PS – JD and Max both needed a bath today and – much to Max’s horro – JD is actually starting to enjoy it! He seems to bask in the pampering now, I think he’s going to become a slightly decedant doggie as he gets older, he he he!

We have been thinking about getting our 5month old schnauzer clipped as the weather her in New Zealand is now warming up.The groomer said they could do a puppy cut, but I would probably rather go for the full schnauzer trim, short back etc. Love your blog, Kaiser is a real dude. Miley also has her tail which is very rare here. We’re also not sure about what size she will be (she came from a reletively dodghy breeder) and we think possibly one of her parents is a standard schnauzer as she is already around 5kg or 11pounds at 5 months old. Kaiser looks to be the perfect size for a mini, it would be great if you could advise on his sizing.
Warm Regards,
Ben

Hi Ben,
I’m glad you like the blog, thanks for your support.
Kaiser weighs close to 15 pounds and is full grown now. We got to meet his parents when we adopted Kaiser and I would guess they are both closer to 20 pounds full grown. So maybe Kaiser is the runt, but he’s a perfect size to us. I’d bet that Miley will grow a bit more if she’s only 5 months now. The bones of a Schnauzer typically stop growing at 8 months to a year old, but they will continue to fill out more with muscle through their second year.
It’d be great if you could send a pic! GoSchnauzer – at – gmail.com
