As told before Kaiser has had to deal with fleas. Definitely not one of the cooler things about having a dog. Everyone from the vet to dog owners we meet at the park have been talking about how bad fleas have been in San Diego this year. We usually give Kaiser a bath after taking him to the park and somehow he would still end up with fleas.

He hasn’t had much trouble since we put him on Comfortis, which is an oral pill which is supposed to kill fleas when they bite the skin. We don’t have any complaints about Comfortis, but the price is about $70+ for a 6 month supply, and you have to go to your vet to get a supply (add $40 for the visit).

Our friend told usabout an alternative to Frontline and Comfortis, named Capstar , which can be bought at Petco for $20 per 6 pills. You don’t need to go to the vet, but you might have to ask an employee at the store to get it for you. Our friend who recommends Capstar has 2 Chihuahuas and they are both currently flea free.
