We’ve recently been confronted with a puppy owner’s worst nightmare – FLEAS!   Yes, we found fleas on our sweet little schnauzer on Friday afternoon!    Brad immediately gave him a bath and used Sentry Flea and Tick Shampoo for puppies.  This seemed to do the job, but we also wanted to make sure he was protected with a preventative treatment.

Kaiser had been given a Frontline Top Spot treatment four weeks ago along with his second vaccination shot VCA Peninsula Animal Hospital.  And luckily we were scheduled to bring him back for his third vaccination the day after we discovered his fleas.  I told the veterinarian about our recent flea finding and asked her to give him the Frontline Top Spot treatment again while we were there.  She said an alternative product she recommends is Comfortis because it works well and is less expensive.  It comes in a beef-flavored tablet that controls for fleas and ticks for 30-days.  So, I decided to buy the Comfortis flea treatment and hope it will work well for Kaiser.

We’re still learning about the best products available to puppies.  And of course we want to make sure we are doing our best to raise a healthy and happy puppy.  Please tell us about your puppy experiences and favorites brands!

In researching flea preventatives, I came across this website.  Petmedratings.com contains pet medication information, pricing, and user reviews. http://www.petmedratings.com
