Kaiser still doesn’t like getting bathed. We give him a bath every week or two, and he’s still not comfortable in the tub. He’s starting to catch on to the fact that after we get home from the beach or park he’s gonna have to get wet. Now, when we get home he tries to hide behind the tv center or under the coffee table. That hasn’t proved effective for him. Anyway, we try to calm him down by using luke warm water and keeping ourselves in a calm , assertive manner. Hopefully with more time Kaiser will like the bath more and not make us feel like meanies for making him get in there.

I love the 100mph run after a bath – they are so funny!!
After Bella developed some flaking of her skin, we were told by the vet not to bathe our schnauzer too often (maybe once or twice between grooming) because they are so prone to skin problems. He suggested just rinsing off without any kind of soap if needed for a clean up. That seems to work out ok for us, and of course for Bella

My parents give me a bath once a week. They are relentless. I guess you better just get used to it. Why do we schnauzers have to put up with this?

My parents give me a bath and deep condition every two weeks or so… I find that having a towel to stand on and mom blocking off the huge tub seems to help… I hate the bath, but love the blow dryer! And every morning while mom is getting ready I come in to get ‘blown out’! Better than a car window! I hope you’ll learn to like your bath’s soon… because everyone loves a clean schnauzer beard!

My Mini Schnauzer Kaiser just passed away, I love him and miss him in the worst way. I see your Kaiser has the same distressed my little used to have when I bathed him. But he did like the heat of a blow dryer, and after being combed out he’d prance around like a proud show dog. Such a sweet freind I can’t believe he’s gone.

We’re so sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet schnauzer, Kaiser. You must miss him terribly. We’re sure he had a very unique and special personality. We’d love for you to share more of his stories and some pictures with us if you feel like it. Thank you for sharing your story about his bath ritual! We haven’t tried the blow dryer with our Kaiser, but may have to after his next bath!
