Over the past few weeks we’ve been teaching Kaiser commands like “sit” and “shake”. I have to admit it took a little longer for our schnauzer to learn “shake” than I thought it would, but he’s not learning disabled after all as he finally got it down. So much so, that when he sits down sometimes he just raises his paw repeatedly, which is pretty funny.
We learned from CollarGirl.com how important it is to mix up the routine when teaching him tricks. Using treats is obviously important and we’ve been using small training treats that we picked up at Petco. It definitely speeds up behavior training. We hope to teach Kaiser a few more tricks, but more importantly that he learns how to learn from us. Check out this video clip from a professional trainer to learn how to teach your dog to shake.
As Kaiser continues to grow we hope to get him to the level of my friends dog who will run and jump kick the back door closed when his owner yells “5-0!”. And, for those of you who are bored check out this insanely obedient dog, named Skidboot, in the video below, and if you can read Japanese you won’t need speakers.
